Wow! What a day this has been. Today is Les' 65th birthday, and the day that I chose to do some more fundraising for BLF as there is no Midland Lung Run any more. I have been very occupied these past weeks growing and nurturing seeds and plants and doing some flower paintings. Then this past week has been taken up with baking. All this came together in a glorious conclusion today when I held my 'Coffee and Cake, sale of garden plants and sale of watercolour pictures' morning. Friends and neighbours turned up to participate and many who could not be present had given me donations. I had thought that I might manage to raise a couple of hundred pounds but that total is already doubled! Thanks to all who came along, to all who donated money if they couldn't make it today, to those who donated such wonderful raffle prizes, and to my trusty group of helpers. I am shattered, emotional, elated - but I feel it was so very worthwhile. I know that this money will help to make a real difference for research into the terrible condition of Pulmonary Fibrosis which cost my darling Les his life. Happy birthday, Les. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
